A Burden to Bare is a haunting short film that follows Kurt, a down-on-his-luck bartender with the unsettling ability to see ghosts. While working a high-end private dinner event, he becomes entangled in the tragic history of the host family, uncovering the buried truth about a young woman's death and the toxic legacy left behind. Blending supernatural horror with emotional depth, the film explores themes of grief, guilt, and the quiet power of bearing witness.
Key props that supported the film’s visual storytelling — including a custom bus ticket, prescription medication labels, and alcohol bottle labels for an elevated, eerie dinner party setting. Each piece was crafted to subtly reinforce narrative clues and character backstories, helping ground the supernatural elements in a realistic and emotionally resonant world.
For this short film, I designed and produced a range of graphic props including the hero bus ticket, medication labels and alcohol bottle labels. Each item was developed with production logistics in mind.
